Do I Need a Bookkeeping Partner to Complete My Past Books?
Kick automates bookkeeping for current and future transactions, but completing past books may require manual work. In some cases, we recommend working with a bookkeeping partner to ensure accuracy.
When a Bookkeeping Partner May Be Needed:
- Limited Bank Data Availability – Kick retrieves up to 2 years of transaction history via Plaid. If you need older data, transactions will have to be manually imported, including those from closed accounts.
- Payroll Reconciliation – If your business runs payroll, a manual payroll reconciliation (via Journal Entry) is required for each tax year. Kick’s internal team focuses on reconciling current-year payroll only.
- Loan Accounting – If your business has loans, each payment needs to be split between principal and interest. Kick’s internal team only completes this for current and future transactions.
Can I Complete My Own Past Books?
If your business does not have payroll or loans and you’re comfortable manually importing past transactions, you should be able to complete your books without a bookkeeping partner.
